A sonic puzzle grown from a whale’s vocalization.
Fragments océaniques is a sonic puzzle made of field recordings and transformed material, blurring the line between what is heard and what is imagined.
The piece grows from a whale’s vocalization, split into tiny grains and stretched in time, around which fragments gathered on the shore are arranged.
The sound material, a trace of the real world, is constantly recycled throughout the work, revealing a majestic ocean inhabited by mysterious creatures.
Finally, the work suggests a possible symbiosis between the human sound footprint and the environment it moves through.
