Gesture, mapping and synthesis brought together in one expressive instrument.
Google Summer of Code 2026 project (INCF): Expressive Gesture-to-Sound Mapping Framework for GestureCap.
The project brings together two independent building blocks, gesture capture and wavetable reconstruction, into one expressive instrument. The aim is to link an observable gesture to a continuous sound transformation, while keeping each part reusable in other contexts.
GestureCap Expressive Instrument connects gesture data, mapping systems and the sound engine into a modular expressive instrument. The two GSoC contributions remain usable on their own, but here they become the building blocks of a single instrument.
MediaPipe capture → OSC transport → routing matrix → gesture mapping → parameter control → sound engine.
